Tupai-Tupai Restaurant is one of the few restaurants that my family and I went to for the occasional dinner outing during our time staying in Shah Alam. The restaurant has an all-you-can-eat steamboat buffet and an ala carte dining. The steamboat buffet is divided into two different spaces, one for regular soup and another for tom yam soup. Not only that, the steamboat buffet also allows customers to eat as much ice cream as they want.
The only catch is that you must finish whatever food you took or you'll be charged extra for it. The ala carte menu is pretty good. The Chinese Fried Rice there is in big portions which is an A+ in my book. It definitely didn't taste like the usual Chinese Fried Rice, but in a good way. At first, it all seemed pretty good, with quick and efficient service plus good food. However, the more we go there, the worse the place became.
The waiters have gotten lazier and they seem to easily forget our orders. In fact, I had to remind them twice about my orange juice. However, it seems that they serve the customers who opt for the steamboat buffet a lot faster. I know that they're the one paying extra but I don't see any reason as to why the other customers should be treated with bad service. My advice? If you want to play it safe, only come here for the steamboat buffet.
