The hotel is the island's only gold and convention resort in Penang. It is located at the top of a hill which ensures sounds from cars are reduced to a minimum. It is just 7 minutes away to the Penang International Airport and is about 20 minutes away from the heart of the city.

The Journey to Find Food!

It was one of those random journeys that your friends planned at the last minute just because there was nothing to do at home. The excuse? To find good food. Well for me, it was the change of environment that I needed but either way, I went to Penang.

So we ended up Equatorial Hotel. It looks very classy but at the same time, gives out the feeling of boring and bland. The rooms were quite pretty and well lit though. But it was more appropriate for couples rather than friends. The bed felt comfortable But the pillows were too soft. Still had good sleep though.

We stayed there for a couple of nights and the total for one room came to about RM700+ which isn't too bad for a hotel of its class. But if anyone is planning on staying here, make sure you have a car. Otherwise, you might just get bored.

Wish for a night's stay

I would say that while the rates of the rooms are on the high end, it is definitely worth staying for a night provided if you are not from Penang. The reason being that there are not many things which you can do around the area. You can take the shuttle bus to Queensbay mall which is located about 10 minutes away but that's about it.

The hotel is located on top of a hill and the management does it's very best to give off the sense that you are away from civilization. They achieve this by giving you open views facing the hillside so all you see are trees. Being away from the road also helps reduce noises from cars and urban life which adds to the surreal experience even more. It is definitely worth a stay if you are a tourist in Penang and looking for an avenue to escape to this make-up "countryside" hotel.
