Service recovery is excellent
It was 27 December 2001 and I just got married a couple of days' before that. I had driven all the way from Singapore and after getting stuck in a jam on the NS Highway near Seremban for close to two hours, I was tired and a little livid.
I arrived at the hotel at close to 5pm and all I wanted was a hot shower and some food. On checking into my room, I opened the bar fridge and I found a packet of food sitting in the fridge. I wasn't peeved or anything so I just had my hot shower, got changed and prepared to go out for dinner. I casually went to the front desk, and very casually informed them what I had found in the fridge. Immediately, the manager appeared and immediately apologised. I was getting very embarrassed. In the first place, I was not even expressing any annoyance. So, I forgave and intended to forget and I took my leave.
I came back later at 10pm. I found the fridge cleaned, stocked up with stuff and a note that said that anything in the fridge was complimentary. On the bed, there was a basket of fruits that was never there with a note expressing their regret. I was already bowled over, thoroughly impressed with their service recovery but that wasn't all.
On the day that I checked out, I found out that on the day we checked in, someone had washed AND polished my car. On the windscreen there was a card that said, "We hope that a little misunderstanding would not spoil your stay with us," and it was signed by the hotel manager in ink. Here's the thing, I was a little creeped out since I didn't inform anyone at the front desk which car I drove but they somehow knew.
I left the Marriott really impressed by their service standards and it sure made my stay a memorable one.
A great place to stay if you have the cash
JW Marriott Hotel is located at Bukit Bintang, a location that seems to the heart of the city for KL, at least for a tourist that is.
I stayed in JWM Hotel a few years back. I was on a vacation with my family and it was my first time in KL. I was so amazed at the sights and sounds of KL and this hotel was also one of them. I still remembered when the bellboy first opened the door of my taxi. I was astounded by the majestic and magnificent aura of the place. The receptionist all had a smile on their faces and it was truly a sight for sore eyes after being trap in a two hour flight and a one hour taxi ride.
The room I stayed in was the cheapest one. But it still cost a bomb. I did not quite remember the rates, but I did remembered it was somewhere above RM300. However, given the classy persona and the atmosphere of the place, I think that the steep price tag is totally justified.
However, if you're looking to save some money on your visit, I would suggest a cheaper option such as Federal Hotel which is also located in that area.
Classy and Sassy
Built in the prime location of Kuala Lumpur, J.W. Marriott Hotel is what a hotel should be in the heart of Malaysia. It looks good, it's comfortable to stay and you're nearby a lot of shopping malls. You have Suria KLCC about 5 minutes away which means that it's also near Pavilion K.L., Berjaya Times Square, Sungei Wang Plaza and other malls.
The service is good as the workers there, even the bellboy, seems to be very enthusiastic with their work. The rooms are bigger than what you'd find at Holiday Inn which is pretty good. The sleep is really peaceful. It's so quite, comfortable and temperature is just at the right spot, not too cold and not warm either. Tourists would definitely enjoy this place as they'd be able to experience the city life of Malaysia.
Location of this hotel is the best, in the prime spot where KL's shopping belt is located. Great for shopaholics if you want to shop till you drop.
Staffs are friendly or trying to be friendly which I don't really mind. Buffet breakfast is average, nothing to boast about.
The hotel is very nice indeed. Rooms are cozy, with huge, comfortable bed to sleep the whole night on and nice sofa to just laze around while reading or watching tv. The room feels very homely. And the bathroom is great with little details and attention put into it.
I will always come back to this hotel, mainly because of shopping and the efforts for the rooms.
A King's treatment
The hotel is located in a prime area surrounded by many shopping malls and tourist attractions which are all easily accessible by walking a short distance. The hotel has also graciously built a walkway which connects the hotel to the malls. This is not only convenient to everyone but it is also a safer option as compared to walking across the road.
As for the hotel service, you basically get what you pay for. An above average price tag for a luxurious experience. The rooms are neat and even the standard rooms are spacious enough for a family of 4. I had arrived to the hotel 2 hours before the check in time and the staff graciously allowed me to check in earlier as soon as the cleaners were done making up the room.
It was a delightful stay whereby the staff attended to our every whim and fancy at any time of the day and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a true experience of living like a King.
