This is a great experience if you decide to enjoy the view of Melaka. However, the entrance ticket is quite expensive for such a short ride.
The tower isn't that high and basically, you just get to see the view from a bird's eye view. Well, at least it's an experience. Be there early as you get to see which area you'd like to cover later in the day. It rotates 360 degrees so you can just stay at one place and still manage to get the whole view.
The view itself is quite nice, with old shops lining the streets and you can have some photo taking opportunities while up there. Definitely a must do while you're in Melaka.
Good to be a MyKad holder
I loved visiting the Taming Sri Tower in Melaka despite some faults with the ticketing system. There were new automated ticket dispensers which did not seem to work after we put in the money for them so we had to wait and call up the maintenance guy and it was a big hassle as there was a large number of people there who were queuing up at the same time.
Thankfully all of that was forgotten when we stepped on to the clear glass platform and started to rise up. Being in the tower as it rotates felt like I was in a camera taking a panoramic picture of the view and mind you, it was a great view indeed. I couldn't get all the pictures I wanted as there were some people blocking me so that was a shame.
I look forward to taking that ride again on my next visit. For Rm 20, it's worth a visit.
Cool ride, perfect for winding down.
For a relatively low price of RM20, I got to ride on the Taming Sari Tower in Malacca. The tower itself is 110 metres high, and offers a great view of Bandar Hilir. I looked out the window and was surprised to see the entirety of Malacca laid out before me like a giant mosiac of many colours.
The air-con did not work very well, and there were more than a few sweaty faces up there while we were rotated about 3-4 times. It's best to head over on a clear day, as only then can your photos be clear. This is a perfect way to wind down after a day of sightseeing and bargain-hunting in Malacca.
Going high in Melacca
Taming Sari Tower is just walking distance from Jonker Street. In fact, most of the place of attraction in Melacca is reachable by foot. Discover this “merry go round” accidentally when we walk from the ship museum to Jonker Street. We were nervous on the way up as it feels like stepping in a transparent lift. Once you are at top of the tower, the cabin will go in circular motion to show you the picturesque skyline of Melacca. It a little pricey for student to go up but you will be offered better rate if you show your MyKad.
A view of Malacca from high up
Menara Taming Sari was one of the highlights of my short one day trip to the city of Malacca. Apart from the food in Jonker Street, this was the place that I really wanted to visit and it did not disappoint. Luckily I went on a weekday and there was like only a few people in front of me at the ticket queue.
Eager to go up into the air, I was the first few who made their way in as soon as they opened the doors to let people enter. I suffer from slight acrophobia (fear of heights) but as this ride is in an enclosed area, it gets less scary after the breath taking view distracted me. Slowly I managed to inch closer to the edge and look out.
At the highest point you get to see the Straits of Malacca and the tiny ships/boats out in the sea and also the whole of the Malacca city. The ride was short but very worthwhile.
Breathtaking view at night.
Taming Sari Tower is a fun place to visit and ride in especially at night.
As a local I was skeptical of taking a ride however as it turns out, it was quite pleasant. The 7 minutes long ride is not too long and not too short in my opinion.
It's also better to go at night firstly because the view is better, second there'll be a long queue in the daytime and thirdly it will be hot. At the top I managed to spot some interesting places like the museum ship, St Paul's Hill and also the sea while the tower was slowly revolving.
Overall a fun experience.
