Nice place for karaoke
For a student of Sunway University, I'm pretty sure you have a couple of friends that loves to go karaoke. I myself can't really find the enjoyment in karaoke. But if the majority of my group wants to go, I pretty much have no choice or say in it. So we'll usually head to the closest one to the university which is Red Box in Sunway Pyramid.
I have to admit, at first glance, the place seems a bit shady. But once I got in, the place seems pretty neat. It's well kept, everything is in working order and there's enough space for 10 people. I didn't sing so I pretty much spent my time doing wacky stuff there to annoy the others. I do recall having a hard time listening to people afterwards but I suppose that's normal for a karaoke place.
Favorite karaoke joint
My first karaoke experience was with Red Box and for a first timer, I absolutely fell in love with this place. Although I'm not much a karaoke person, but being here has boost my interest to share the pleasure of singing over the screen with my whole family.
The ambiance is great, and I simply love how each room is decorated with a different theme. What a nice touch. Unlike some other karaoke chains, the walkway has nicely dimmed lights but not to the point of darkness. This give the chain a nice and funky outlook altogether.
The selection of songs vary and we had a great time choosing which track to be put on the list. I wish we had more extended time because 4 hour is not enough for you to enjoy and sing your hearts out with a great company.
First family-friendly Karaoke
No offence but I find Red Box overrated. They are the first family-friendly karaoke in Malaysia and it was a hit in Malaysia. However, I always find them to commercialize and the staff is very “cold” as they have fixed, rigid answer for every request throw to them. Their rate is higher than their counterpart. Quality of their room was great but declining due to lack of maintenance. They used to have great lunch package where people queue to sing. I used to get unlimited tit bits as we always patron Red Box in a big group. I do hope they continue to come out with brilliant ideas to attract more people.
