Not too shabby
I see Adidas as one of Nike's top competitor when it comes to sporting good. However, personally comparing these two, I have to say that I think Nike won by a land slight.
I have been a fan of basketball shoes since 2008 and I remembered how I was standing at a crossroad when I was choosing my first pair.
So, to make things easier for me, I managed to borrow one pair of each brand from a friend of mine. In terms of comfort and design, I would say the clear winner is Nike. However, Adidas did offer something lighter for my feet.
I guess basketball shoes are just not Adidas main selling point. They do have a great choice of football shoes. But I wouldn't comment on this as I am not a footballer and I don't think I can distinguish between the qualities a footballer would like to look for in their footwear.
When I think Adidas, I will be instantly reminded of an old-school group called 'Run DMC'. They used Adidas shoes to promote a form of hip hop culture that soon became a mainstream culture and a part of the lives of youngsters everywhere. Almost everywhere. I never buy Adidas shoes for the sake of sports as I don't find it to be on par with its counterparts from Nike, especially basketball shoes.
But I do love their casual shoes, especially the Adidas Superstar. It feels so comfortable to walk in and the shoes look great. Not too flashy but it is to my liking. I'd only prefer Adidas over Nike when it comes to casual shoes and nothing more. Oh, maybe some of their sports equipments but that's mostly neutral for me on every shop.
