Contrary to the name, this chain was founded in 1997, not 1901. It is a growing chain with outlets in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, China and Saudi Arabia. The hotdogs on the menu are mostly American style.

Do not make the same mistake as me

I have always eaten hot dogs whenever the opportunity comes especially when I queue up to any of the cinemas. The best thing about a hotdog is the combination of tastes you get from the tasty sausage mixed with the buns and the burst of flavors that come out of the mixture of sauces. I made that mistake when I visited this place expecting it to be a snack, a small thing to eat before dinner. The hotdogs were so good and in such big portions that I ended filling my belly and having to avoid dinner because of it. Looking back on it, those were very delicious hotdogs and I do not regret my decision.I suggest you do the same if you get the chance.

Don't Eat This If You're Looking For a Full Meal

1901 Hot Dogs are pretty unique in Malaysia as they have hot dogs all over the menu. Normally, you'd hear hot dogs as nothing but a side dish or of little importance but 1901 Hot Dogs beg to differ. You can find these at places like 1 Utama and Sunway Pyramid. Moreover, you can purchase their hot dogs at the concession stand at Golden Screen Cinemas to enjoy with your movies.

My personal favourite has to be the Chicago Beef. The sausage is big, it is pretty tasty and simple. As it is simple, my orders tend to take less than 5 minutes for them to prepare it. But of course, this depends on how many customers are there at the time. But seriously, this is more suitable for snacking rather than a proper meal.

Great for snacking

1901 is one of my staple food for snacking in the cinema. It's hard to find their booth lately and the only way that I can continue to enjoy my hotdogs are from the cinemas.

The hotdogs are just basic, and you have the option of either chicken or beef. The toppings are the same, some sauce and mustard. You gotta enjoy your snack immediately while it's still warm for pure satisfaction.

Price is a little above average for the size they're presenting but who cares. I totally love the bun. They are the softest bun ever which I dig the most. Definitely among the best.

It's all about the hot dogs.

Obviously, the hot dogs are what 1901 is all about. American hotdogs with mustard and ketchup, pretty uncommon in Malaysia. The hot dogs are steamed instead of grilled or fried, which makes it healthier than most of the regular fast foods. Not really filling, it works more like a snack than an actual meal. They have different dressings for their hot dogs, the bread however is always the same.

There used to be a 1901 stand at the mall near my house, but it has closed down now. Hardly seen them anywhere these days I can only relive the flavour from the past, sad really.
