In 2010, I was out with my classmates to Asia Cafe. After a long session of pool, a classmate of mine suggested going to Snowflake for some dessert. Me on my first time eating, you can guess that I have no idea what to order, and the menu isn't helping even a bit. So I decided to let my friend order for me. I kept asking what he ordered but he told me to wait and see.
The first thing I saw when he came back to the table was this UFO on his hand. Now, me being somewhat of a 'genius', I asked him if that's what we were supposed to eat. Turns out that UFO is the way the counter gives the signal to pick up our orders when it was ready. I remember having that Soya Ice thingy which was surprisingly nice for its looks. I mean, it looks like what you'd give to hospital patients, to me at least. It didn't taste overly sweet and some of the things inside were pretty chewy.
For desserts which were below RM10, I wouldn't mind coming here again any time soon.
A cold pleasure
My wife brought me to an outlet on a very hot Saturday afternoon. "We're very lucky today' she said as we took our place behind the queue.I asked her why and she said normally the queue is three times as long. We picked a special flavor they had on sale and it was a macha green tea taste. IT had all sorts of side toppings on it like red beans and black jelly. It was very delicious and the treat simply melts in your mouth.
After placing your order, you will be given a device known as a "beeping UFO". Once your order is done, your device will light up and start vibrating. It's basically telling you that your order is ready. A cool concept, inclusive of one of the most delicious and coldest reats out there, is simply divine when served and eaten on a hot afternoon.
Love the textures of the dessert.
After a day of shopping and eating especially after lunch, I’d always look forward to Snowflake’s Best Seller.
I love everything about the dessert, from the top layer of soft grass jelly. The main body is shaved ice which is poured with sweet syrup and the best part of all is the chewy and slightly sweet taro balls.
The best seller dessert also comes with creamer which is to be poured onto your dessert and adds another dimension to the flavor.
Overall a great place for dessert and the portion is pretty generous and you probably need to share it if you’re not really hungry.
Something cold for hot weather.
The first time I tried Snowflake was their bestseller series, both hot and cold. Both tasted not bad, but I prefer the cold one more as I think a cold dessert is more suited for such hot weather in Malaysia.
Their ice is averagely sweet which is just nice. And the toppings I like most is their signature Taroballs, and mini pearls too. Just chewy enough. Besides their bestsellers, I also like their Soya Ice series which you get to choose different toppings.
And they recently just launched a new dessert called Orcha’ryo – green tea ice desserts come together with sesame balls, red beans and pearls. It has a really strong taste of green tea. So I would like to recommend this dessert to all the green tea lovers out there.
