The Store is a brand name that is known for its department store/supermarket hybrid. Its first outlet opened in Bukit Mertajam in 1968 which easily makes it one of the oldest of its kind in Malaysia. It is also the anchor tenant for a few shopping malls in Malaysia such as Shaw Centrepoint in Klang.

Boring, lousy but expensive products
This is not a place of choice to buy groceries or clothes. The groceries are very limited especially organic products (I'm not sure if they even have organic products). The items are not really fresh also.
The clothes are ugly and seem to be designed by amateurs. However, the prices are really high for those kinds of clothes, at least RM40 for a shirt that looks like RM10 shirts at the night market. A normal dress can cost about RM80. Excuse me, who would want to buy them?
The Store should really decrease their prices and improve their products. Otherwise, there’s no way they are going to compete with Jusco, Tesco, or even Giant.
Not My Place
The Store is a name that is quite uncommon for me. Probably because there aren't many of its branches that are nearby or easily accessible for me. Not only that, it seems like there are plenty of better options around. Anyway, the first time I went to The Store was at Shaw Centrepoint in Klang. I wasn't sure if the place is a supermarket or not at first.
Sure, it did have things a regular department store would have but seriously, it's more of a supermarket than anything else. I wouldn't call it a proper department store. Not only that, the place oozes an aura of boredom. I knew it within the first 15 minutes that staying there for a long time would be a waste. I'd have a better time going to Giant Hypermarket.
