Nice bak kut teh in a pleasant ambience...
If feasting on bak kut teh in a clean, bright and pleasant ambience is your preference , then Tang Feng would do well on your list. This eatery is located among the rolls of eateries along sloping Jalan Sutera. In fact, I dined at Tang Feng rather than a more popular bak kut teh shop just a few shops down the slope due to one factor - ambience.
The shop has nice clean old styled marble top tables and chairs. While it's not airconditioned, the efficient ceiling fans do their job well. The overall price per meal is generally higher than the neighbouring competitor, which perhaps explain the thinner patrons here. Or perhaps it's the taste difference between the two.
So is the main offering here any good ? well, personally, I am a reasonably easy to please diner. The soup here is of the peppery herb type and the usual accompanying dishes should go well with most diners. Of course, the signature claypot dry-styled bak kut teh should be given a try. The taste and flavour are more intense through the high heat cooking...
But one item I really want to highlight is their baked roasted pork buns. It also have a mushroom version...and the taste is just superb, especially when it's just out of the oven. The shop offers 11 pieces for price of 10 at Rm1.50/pc. Definitely a great buy-home item or as a gift for friends, etc.
