Great Hong Kong Cuisine

Nothing attracts me more than delicious and tasty Hong Kong cuisine. I used to love Kim Gary but their standards have dwindled and I am more than happy to let Wong Kok take its place. There are a great variety of choices that you can choose from, things like spaghetti to other Hong Kong style cuisine like dim sum and hor fun. Definitely a great place to go for a nice meal and they serve great dishes all day round.

Better than Kim Gary

Wong Kok is definitely better than Kim Gary. The food tastes so much better. I love the borsch soup and Hong Kong style spaghetti. Their set meals are seriously not bad at all, taste quite good unlike Kim Gary’s set meals which usually comprise of instant noodles if you want affordable meals.

I am not a huge fan of milk tea and I personally think that all milk tea taste the same but my friends prefer the milk tea at Wong Kok compared to Kim Gary’s.

Good beef hor fun

I prefer Wong Kok to Kim Gary's, perhaps because I'm biased but I feel that Kim Gary's menu has mostly food that can be prepared at home. Nevertheless my first experience at Wong Kok was a sad one. Having heard much about their Beef Hor Fun from my friend, I decided to order that. However, the beef was really tough and not tender as my friend had described. As for my friend's plate of beef hor fun, the beef was really tender. Even the gravy tasted better.

Admittedly I was quite upset about it but the subsequent visits have yet to fail me. Their milk tea tastes good and rich. I'm glad that there was Wong Kok before the bubble tea craze because it filled a much-needed craving of mine.

Giant Milk Tea for birthday boy/girl

This is a restaurant that my family frequents whenever we are celebrating a member's birthday. Reasonably priced, good tasting food & a wicked selection of drinks! I like their cheese baked rice although the price is slightly expensive. The atmosphere is also quite warmth and good for family to gather around. It is a great place to celebrate birthday. Upon displaying your identification card and the validation of your birthday (+/- 3 days), they will give you a giant milk tea drink. Free of charge! When I say giant milk tea, I mean a big glass of milk tea for 8 – 10 people.

A variety of good value set meals.

Wong Kok Char Chan Teng is our favorite place to eat out during our long lunch break.

Compared to other Hong Kong restaurants like Kim Gary, Wong Kok definitely has a wider variety of set meals. Their set meals are normally below 15 ringgit including service charge and tax. I think they are worth the price as a set meal comes with a main course, soup, dessert, and a drink of your choice.

Their food was not bad, although I prefer Kim Gary’s more. Besides milk tea, I also like the drink named ‘Koo Tin-Lok’. The interesting name of this chocolate drink originates from the Hong Kong actor, Louis Koo because of his tanned skin I guess.
