A glimpse into the culture of Sabah's ethnic groups.
The Mari-Mari Cultural Village in Sabah has a special place in my heart. Our guide was charming and entertaining as he took us through the traditional houses of various ethnic groups in Sabah.
The houses were open to visitors and photography is also allowed. Thorough explanation was given by the guide.
We witnessed a tribesman build a fire with only a bamboo shoot and dried bamboo shavings, it astounded us to no end. There was also a big, rattan-made trampoline in the house. I had a try jumping and let me tell you, it was not easy. You can also get a henna drawn on your arm by one of the tribesman. We had the pleasure of experiencing the bamboo dance first-hand. Lunch awaited us at the end of the journey. Unfortunately, the lunch was not to my taste and I did not enjoy it as much as I had the rest of the trip.
