Beware of aggressive monkeys.
The penang botanical gardens have a really great atmosphere. There are huge green fields, a proper road for people to have a jog. It's a great place to have a picnic, hearing the sound of nature with some fresh air. There's even a rose garden, and a pond with lots of huge lilipads. It has many great sceneries to take good photos.
However, due to the fact there are too many tourists feeding the monkeys, now the monkeys have grown to be really aggressive. There are cases where the monkeys attacked the tourists although it wasn't a serious case. Overall, a great time to enjoy the greenery and scenery, but try to avoid the monkeys if you can.
Monkeys...see but don't touch
At the entrance, you will see a sign that says "Do not feed the monkeys". I would like to advocate the message again. Do not feed the monkeys, seriously. I have seen too many people get bitten because they thought the monkeys were "cute" and decided that no harm can be done by feeding them a slice of banana or a potato chip or two.
People, what you see is a little monkey on the ground in front of you possibly showing you it's puppy eyes. What you don't see is that the entire clan is waiting on the trees next to you ,ready to pounce. Please exercise safety and do not feed the monkeys.
The Botanical Gardens is a beautiful park with fresh air and plenty of greenery for you to see. You should spend your time, smelling the many different species of flowers scattered across the park. Rather than finding a tree to climb on to escape the monkeys.
Do not feed the monkeys. Period.
