I'd like to embark on a sushi hunt!
And I'd like to gather all your views on where to get the best sushi in Singapore?
Any ideas?

There is a japanese place at the basement of Vivo, near the far end of giant that sells pretty fresh sashimi!! Although there might be a limited selection I think it is pretty fresh and prices are fairly reasonable! :)

No Japanese foodie around?

I personally liked Sushi Tei for Japanese food. If I'm on a budget, I would go for Sushi Express, at Citylink, for everything is going at $1.50/plate, regardless of what. Not exactly top-notch but definitely value-for-money.

Least preferred would be Nihon Mura. Avoiding Sakae Sushi at all times.

Sakae sushi's sushi isn't bad but the one in Japan contained tastier ingredients and crunchier cucumbers!

If you're really looking for the best (and are not concerned abt the price!), I'd personally recommend the sushi at Hakumi restaurant (a new japanese restaurant at International Plaza, near Tanjong Pagar MRT).

Sushi is done almost as a high art there, with a lot of attention paid to its presentation and blend of flavours. The rice they use for the sushi is simply amazing - it breaks into individual grains and melts in your mouth when you take a bite into it.
The sushi is also served warm (which I've heard is the authentic way sushi masters in Japan do it), and that really sets it apart from the chilled sushis in most commercial joints.

Do be prepared that a single sushi can cost at least $4(!!) though, so it'll probably just make for a good one-time indulgence! ;)

I've heard the sushi at Shin Nichi restaurant is one of the best too, and prices are not as steep, but I haven't had the chance to try it personally. You can check it out and let us know! :)

If you have a lot of cash to spare, Shinji by Kanesaka sushi really is top notch.

If not, the sushi from kuriya dining, Sushi Tei and momiji are quite fine too

I attempted the sushi sold at NTUCs. What a pleasant surprise! They're surprisingly tasty. The ones at Sushi Tei had rice that tasted totally local. The rice contained within the NTUC sushis isn't that far off from the actual glutinous rice used in original sushis.
