20 Best Halal Restaurants that exist in Singapore right now

20 Best Halal Restaurants in Singapore

It's not that difficult to find a Halal restaurant in Singapore. We're surrounded by Halal outlets at almost every nook and cranny of Singapore but it certainly was difficult trying to figure out which restaurants would make it into our list of 20 Best Halal Restaurants in Singapore.

This list of restaurants has got me drooling just thinking about them. So beware! If you've not had your lunch or dinner, reading this article might just make your stomach pangs worse. With that said, you can always visit these restaurants to satisfy your hunger.

1. Ayam Penyet Ria

b2ap3_thumbnail_ayam-penyet-ria.JPGImage Source: Ayam Penyet Ria

Ayam Penyet Ria is hands-down my favourite ayam penyet restaurant. Whenever I'm in town, I try my best to visit this place for lunch or dinner because I know I'll regret it if I don't. Just thinking about it makes me drool. Urgh, bring me there now please!!!

What's so special about Ayam Penyet Ria would definitely be the sambal. It's extremely spicy, the spiciest sambal I've ever had but it's so so so good. If you can't handle your spice then I suggest you don't try the sambal...or you can YOLO and eat a spoonful. I had a friend who did that and he needed like two glasses of milk after that.

2. Badoque Cafe

My friends keep telling me that I need to visit Badoque Cafe and good news is that they're opening an outlet at Upper Thomson real soon. I'm definitely gonna drag my friends there...even though they live in the East haha (If you guys are reading this, please don't hate me. I just want food.)

The Badoque steak which costs about $19.50 is a must try here.

3. Yellow Submarine

b2ap3_thumbnail_yellow-submarine.jpgImage Source: campus.com.sg

We don't have Halal Subway in Singapore but we do have...Yellow Submarine! I was super impressed with the beef sandwiches at Yellow Submarine because they were incredibly juicy and the meat was super tender. The only downside to it is that it's really expensive. One set meal costs about $9 which is nearly twice the cost of a set meal from McDonald's.

The thing about Yellow Submarine sandwiches is that it gets really messy so it's best if you don't go there for your first date. They have only one outlet so far and there's a limited seating space so you can expect a long queue on weekends.

4. I Am... Cafe

b2ap3_thumbnail_iam.jpgImage Source: @nvfnfsh

I Am...so jealous of everyone who's been to I Am... Cafe. I've walked past I Am... so many times but I'm always so put off by how crowded it is. Plus, it's not air-conditioned which is a big turn-off for me if the weather is insanely hot. But, the desserts look heavenly and I've been craving for their rainbow crepes and cake since forever.

Friends have been spamming Instagram with pictures of their food from I Am... and I've consistently heard that their Fish & Chips is the best.

5. 1market by Chef Wan

b2ap3_thumbnail_1market.JPGImage Source: howlikethat

I remember growing up and watching Chef Wan's talkshow on a little television in my parent's bedroom. He was the only chef I knew of, back before Gordon Ramsay stormed the cooking scene. So I thought it was pretty cool that he'd open a restaurant here in Singapore.

1market serves one of the largest variety of authentic Halal Asian cuisine and some of the recipes were created by celebrity chef Chef Wan himself!

6. Carousel

b2ap3_thumbnail_carousel.jpegImage Source: todayonline

I've been to Carousel a couple of times for their high tea buffet and I never leave disappointed. This is coming from someone who absolutely HATES buffets because I just can't stomach enough to make it all worth my money. Carousel buffets can get really expensive especially if you're going on the weekends but

What I like about Carousel buffet is that they have so many different cuisines you can choose from. You can get sashimi, Shanghai dumplings and nasi lemak all from the same restaurant. Pretty cool right? There are also private rooms at Carousel should you have a large group reservation. I've dined in one before and it made feel so important and special.

I am especially in love with the dessert section. I'm the girl who would walk back and forth just to get more ice cream and fondue. I will do anything for their desserts. Anything.

7. Fika Swedish Cafe & Bistro

b2ap3_thumbnail_fika-swedish-meatballs.jpgImage Source: SMUgourmetclub

If you love Swedish food or if you're dying to try one then you should try out the food at Fika. Although it's slightly pricey, the portions are huge. By that, I mean really BIG. It's best if you share because it's likely that you won't be able to finish it by yourself.

If you go to Fika, the meatballs are a must! You cannot go into a Swedish restaurant and not order their meatballs. Fika also has really good desserts like their Swedish Chocolate Balls and Mamas Kanelbullar which is basically just Swedish homemade cinnamon buns.

8. Le Steak by Chef Amri

b2ap3_thumbnail_lesteak1.jpgImage Source: Daniel's Food Diary

You're probably going to cringe when you read this but I absolutely dislike steaks. I apologise but I can never stomach a steak, don't even talk to me about it being medium or rare or whatever. But, for all you steak lovers out there, here's a restaurant you need to visit.

Chef Amri is a well-known figure in the Mediacorp Suria scene and of course, that just means Le Steak is packed all the time on the weekends. It's hard to come by a halal restaurant that offers top-notch Western delights but patrons of Le Steak have sung high praises.

9. Hajah Maimunah Restaurant

b2ap3_thumbnail_hajah-maimunah.pngImage Source: Hajah Maimunah Restaurant

I question how Malay I am sometimes because I've never been to Hajah Maimunah Restaurant. Maybe I did like...a long time ago but I don't recall. Blame the fact that I live so far away from all these awesome food places and I'm too lazy to travel half the time.

Even so, Hajah Maimunah is where you'd want to go to experience delicious authentic Malay food. I've constantly heard rave reviews from my friends and I know I'm missing out on a lot but hey, I promise to visit there soon. I'm dying to try their grilled fish with spicy chilli padi sauce.

10. Fluff Bakery

b2ap3_thumbnail_fluff.jpgImage Source: @hideyah

I'm going to cheat a little and list Fluff Bakery even though they're not exactly a restaurant. But hey, they're just too good to leave out. Cupcakes are all the rave right now and Fluff Bakery is no stranger to the cupcake scene. With long snaking lines every single day, I salute all of you who painstakingly queue up for them cupcakes. Trust me, I wanted to queue up too but I gave up after seeing the line. I'm sorry I'm not hardcore enough.

You must be wondering why people bother queuing up for Fluff cupcakes...they're just normal cupcakes right? That's where you're wrong. Fluff Bakery produces really unique flavours like Ondeh Ondeh, Mango Sticky Rice and Earl Grey Pear Honey for their cupcakes. They also have weekly favourites like Salted Caramel and Nutella Red Velvet.

If you're interested to get some cupcakes, you better be prepared to queue. Even though they open at 12pm, the queue starts to form even before that. That's how good their cupcakes are.

11. Tang Tea House Hong Kong Cafe

b2ap3_thumbnail_tth.jpgImage Source: Tang Tea House Hong Kong Cafe

I'm pretty sure the dim sum craze is over but hey, there's never a wrong time for dim sum right? Tang Tea House Hong Kong Cafe is the perfect place to go to if you're craving for lots of paus and siew mai.

Just looking at this picture makes me miss my tau sar bao. Oh and if you're planning to go there, their Golden Sand Pau is a hit! It's your Halal liu sha bao and I'm pretty darn sure it's going to taste delicious.

Price Range: ~$10

12. Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak

b2ap3_thumbnail_selera-rasa.jpg

I've tried very hard to find a nasi lemak stall that can knock Selera Rasa off #1 on my list but alas, to no avail. I used to go to school at that area and Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak would always be my go-to after-school lunch spot. You can easily identify which stall it is because it'd be the one with the longest queue. I'm not even kidding, the queue can stretch all the way till the end of the food centre.

But the long queue would be so worth it. It's one of the few nasi lemak stalls in Singapore that uses basmati rice but I think it makes the whole dish so much better. Their sambal is also really good and not too spicy so if you can't handle too much chilli, you'd like this dish.

13. 21 On Rajah

b2ap3_thumbnail_21-on-rajah.jpgImage Source: chope.com.sg

21 On Rajah has recently been certified Halal by MUIS and boy, you're going to be spoilt by their menu. They offer an excellent buffet spread and even their ala carte menu is tempting. If you're not up for a buffet, then go for their ala carte.

There aren't many halal buffets in Singapore so, thank goodness we have this to add on to our list.

Price Range: ~$40

14. La Marelle Cafe & Boutique

b2ap3_thumbnail_lamarelle.jpgImage Source: @lamarellecafe

I feel like some of my friends are going to kill me for including La Marelle in this list but you can't deny that they do have some really nice pastas on their menu. I think their Mushroom Raviolis and Aglio e Olio dish top their menu. They're simply irresistible. They do have a wide dessert spread but most of their cake slices run out real fast.

La Marelle has a really lovely, whimsical interior which makes it a picturesque cafe to visit. But, their service isn't up to par and dinner guests often find themselves waiting for more than half an hour for their meal. Their cafe space is also quite small so I suggest you going there in the early afternoon to avoid a long wait for seats.

Nevertheless, La Marelle proves to be an awesome place to visit, especially if you're looking for a new place to eat at for a date. I personally wouldn't mind waiting for their Aglio e Olio.

15. AquaMarine

If you're feeling rich and atas, head on down to Aquamarine for a fantastic buffet spread. With both local and international cuisine spread, you're bound to eat till you can't breathe anymore. You're going to enjoy their signature dishes AquaMarine Jumbo Laksa and Hainanese Chicken Rice.

16. Casa Bom Vento

b2ap3_thumbnail_Casa-Bom-Vento-Sambal-Assam-Sotong-Belimbing.jpgImage Source: Alex Ang

Casa Bom Vento is the only Halal-certified restaurant in Singapore which serves Eurasian Peranakan cuisine. If you're daring and willing to try a different palate, it's time you take a trip down to Casa Bom Vento.

At Casa Bom Vento, you can find an amalgamation of different European cuisines namely Portuguese, Dutch and British with hints of influence from Malay, Indian, Chinese and Nonya style of cooking, making it feel like you're tasting authentic Peranakan cooking.

17. Yureka Teppanyaki Restaurant

b2ap3_thumbnail_886510_514654898572264_1920826446_o.jpgImage Source: Yureka Teppanyaki Restaurant

Yureka Teppanyaki is the first and only Halal-certied teppanyaki Japanese restaurant in Singapore. That's really hard to believe right? I mean, teppanyaki chicken is probably the most delicious way you could cook a chicken and Yureka Teppanyaki has got the real deal.

Price Range: ~$24
Address: 10 Jalan Masjid Singapore 418930

18. Seoul Garden Buffet Ala-Carte

b2ap3_thumbnail_seoul-garden.jpg

I absolutely love Seoul Garden's buffet ala-carte, especially the outlets where everything is computerised and you basically don't have to get up at all. My fondest memory of Seoul Garden would be sitting at their City Square outlet from lunch all the way till dinner. We ate and talked and ate a whole lot more.

I like how everything is hands on and you can cook for yourself. It's also a great family restaurant because you get to bond over...burning your own food. I'm just kidding but the truth remains that Seoul Garden is perfect for family gatherings or outings. I can't wait to go back.

19. The Orange Lantern

b2ap3_thumbnail_orangelantern.jpgImage Source: The Orange Lantern

There are not many Halal restaurants in Singapore that specialises in Vietnamese cuisine. But, if you're missing Vietnam so badly, you should head on down to The Orange Lantern for some authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Indulge in your pho or mango salad and you'll feel like you're being transported to Ho Chi Minh instantly.

Price Range: ~$19

  • 73 Killiney Road Singapore 239528
  • Harbourfront Centre 1 Maritime Square #01-98 Singapore 099253

20. Gurame Indonesian Restaurant

b2ap3_thumbnail_gurame.jpg

I absolutely love Indonesian food. They rank second to Thai food though. But I love the spice in Indonesian food, the sambal and almost everything there is to Indonesian cuisine. At Gurame, you'll be treated to a spectacular view because the restaurant is situated by the sea at Changi Coast. Perfect for a romantic date! Of course, it's a little out of the way but hey, when there's a will there's a way.

Many people I've talked to ranked Gurame as their top Indonesian restaurant and it's not difficult to see why. With a great ambience, and delectable food such as their beef rendang, it's hard not to fall in love with Gurame.

Price Range: ~$30
Address: 11 Changi Coast Walk Singapore 499740
