Food in Singapore is expensive, but you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg just to enjoy first-class food. I was strolling through Chinatown and was ecstatic when I discovered this Michelin-starred hawker stall at 78 Smith Street.
Queueing at delicious food stalls is almost a national sport. That being said, be prepared to queue for at least 30 minutes before getting your hands on their amazing Char Siew Rice ($3). Nicely caramelised and dripping with dark sauce, the char siew is juicy and tender with a firm texture. Another favorite would be the Pork Rib Noodles ($5). While the sauce is more sweet than it is salty, you do have the option of mixing the soup with the spicy sauce.
